1150 ring end gaps
I am just preparing my 1199 kit. The cylinders have all been honed and I have a brand new set of weisco rings. My Suzuki manual says end gaps should be .7mm on the first and second rings. I thought I read somewhere that the gap on the second ring should be slightly larger than the top one. Anyone confirm that and how far down the cylinder do I push the rings for measurement. Thanks, BobTags: None -

I'd follow the Wiseco instructions.

On a street motor the ring end gaps should be .003 X bore diameter for the top ring & .004 X the bore diameter for the second ring. Therefore, 2.992 bore diameter = .008976, or .009 THOUSANDTHS end gap for the top rings & .011968, or .012 THOUSANDTHS for the second rings. Hope this helps, Ray.Comment

Good info here from Ray. Will try to remember this one...On a street motor the ring end gaps should be .003 X bore diameter for the top ring & .004 X the bore diameter for the second ring. Therefore, 2.992 bore diameter = .008976, or .009 THOUSANDTHS end gap for the top rings & .011968, or .012 THOUSANDTHS for the second rings. Hope this helps, Ray.
