    Wow, a whole lot more info than I was asking about. Such is the greatness of the folks on here.

    So is the consensus that it could be done but probably more difficult than its worth?

    What exactly are back cut gears and where do you get that done?

    I may also just find another engine but this one runs really good even with 27k miles on the clock. No oil burn or problems...

      remove engine.
      split cases.
      send transmission and forks/drum to a specialist.
      reassemble with necessary gaskets and re-install in bike.
      well you have 6 speed i think so depending on the shop..probably 300.00 ish depending if any repairs are needed(welding).
      so you could be anywhere from 400 and up depending.
      a parts bike may be had for 50 bucks and up.
      your call.
