    countershaft oil seal question

On a 78 gs550 Can the countershaft oil seal be removed (and replaced) from the sprocket side, or is it removed from the inside of the tranny? Thanks for any advice on this....

they can be replaced from the sprocket side, romove clutch actuator and push rod, pop the old seal out, clean up the crankcase "hole" spotless, apply a thin smear of your favourite crankcase sealer around the outer edge of the seal and tap it evenly back in place, making sure it is sitting square. lubricate the pushrod before sliding it back through the oil seal.
