Lockhart oil cooler and pressure switch

Rusty, you're absolutely right that I need that seal. I'm hoping that Sedelen can come up with a source for the part he shows with p/n 870-05. Also, I read that it's a good idea to change the oil pump gears to those from a 750, but I can't find that post. Is that the case?

Source for seal for Lockhart oil cooler adapter

I was in touch with Eric Bang, and he was very helpful. I found the seal at this link:
http://www.herculesus.com/product.php?productid=2785 , and ordered a couple. I'll let you guys know how it works out. He also had this advice:

Place a small amount of Permatex Ultra Black gasket maker on the end of the tube,attach the U-cup seal and allow it to dry with a slight weight on it for a couple of hours or more before installation. (You want the gasket material to harden somewhat so that the seal will not move when you place the unit straight down into the crankcase. Also apply a very thin bit of Ultra Black to the sealing surface between the seal and crankcase just before installation.
Once installed, allow 24 hours to set-up the sealer before starting the engine.

I got the seals a couple days ago, and they look good. I installed the seal on the adapter, and will install the adapter later this week, so I'll let everybody know how it works out. Does anybody know the thread size and pitch for the nipple fitting ports in the Lockhart adapter? Mine has straight fittings (180 degree), and needs 135 degree fittings like I see in many pics people have posted of their adapters. There is a Grainger near work that should be able to source them, but I forgot to bring one of the nipples to work today.

Unarmed robbery!

I tried several local sources for 135 degree angle hose barb adapters to take the pressure from the oil-cooler lines off the clutch cable with no luck, then yesterday stopped at a Grainger supply near work. The brass straight NPT-to-hose-barb connectors are about $6, but the angled ones were $22! And they didn't have them in stock or close by, so I ordered them for delivery. I'm experiencing sticker shock! Now I can finally button this all up and see if the seal on the adapter makes the cooler work. Nothing's EVER easy!

1/4" NPT to 3/8" barbed, but I didn't know for sure until I went to Grainger. I found a few on Ebay at around $10, but my search found that $22 was not that out of line for most places. These are the only parts holding up finishing my installation, and I want my bike back on the road NOW! (It's been about 2 wks, what with finding the seals, and all.) Sticker shock!

Fittings came in two days

It's all installed, and waiting 24 hrs for the sealant on the bottom of the seal to set up, and we'll see if it does the trick. Just in time for cold weather!

Finally started the bike up, and took it for a ride. The oil cooler is working properly, and the pressure light no longer blinks on at idle.
