Oils labeled as "energy conserving" have additives which are reputed to make (weak) clutches slip. These oils are typically of the thinner viscosity than our bikes use though. Reading over at Bob Is The Oil Guy forum, there are several guys with Goldwings and similar using energy conserving oil in their rigs without concern. Maybe those bikes have a stout clutch, not sure. At any rate, claims of synthetic oil causing clutches to slip are greatly exaggerated.Ed
