I don't really need to defend anyone, but since Eric can't respond, someone should.

In my world that's what friends do. I don't consider myself an attack dog as you put it, I'm just standing up to unwarranted attacks.

Eric knows of a solution to lowering the gear ratio on shaft dive GS. Another friend(sedelen) posted something to that nature and then the attack dogs as you put it, started biting.

I know it is true, because I have what is needed and will be doing the same thing to my bike, when I have the time. But since people tend to hold on to grudges and can't let go like immature adolescents and start making comments about someone that can't respond, well that tends to tick me off.

I've already stated that he has gone out of his way to help me and many other members out. It would be nice to have them speak up also, but I don't blame them for not doing so.

He said that you seem to have forgotten all about the mirrors he helped you with, when you wrecked your bike and nobody else was. Apparently the only working transportation you had, so you could get to work by Monday.

    Is that true?

You fully know that the gauges are not that inaccurate or maybe you don't.

As far as him not sharing the info because some here are bad mouthing him I say boo hoo. If he truly wanted to help people he would provide the info and win over people with his selflessness. Yea right.

He followed me around like a freaking Chihuahua nipping at my heels because I dared to (a) disagree with him in a thread and (b) post my GPz in the riding game. I have never mentioned this before, but there it is.
Do I care if he ever came back? No.
Do I miss him? Not in the least. I prefer to leave dealing with disagreeable people to the performance of my job, where they pay me to deal with jerks.
Well that is why there is a ignore option. And I appreciate the not bashing people part, but that is what you just did.

This thread needs an "ignore this thread" option. Actually a lot of threads need this option.

You are correct. I'm not real proud of it, but it is the truth. IMHO, the fact that I only had to use the ignore option on one person speaks volumes about that person.

I guess your right. Just like Tom mentioned, just use an ignore thread option. But the digs keep coming, or is that bites, you'll have to ask Cowboy that.

He did sell me some mirrors for the bike that he shipped fairly quickly but he definitely wasn't the only person I could have gotten them from. And I had other transportation I could have used at the time. But how in any stretch of the imagination does that mean I am beholden to him and therefore required to sing his praises?

I suppose he didn't tell you of his attitude behind selling an airbox last year that I was looking for? No? I asked if anyone had an airbox that fit the 550. He said he had one and sent pictures early in the day during a workday. However, although I can check my email throughout the day whenever my phone tells me I have one, I don't have time to respond to them as my job keeps me busy from the time I walk in to long past the time I am supposed to leave. So I receive another email from him about 2pm my time (thereabouts as I don't remember the exact time) stating that he's going to the post office and if I don't get back to him I won't get the airbox. Remember, this is after he sent the first set of pictures I'd asked for to see what the thing actually looked like and if it would fit (something else he got ****y about) but before I had time to really look at them. I then get another email railing on me for wasting his time and not responding back to him. It was because of those last two emails I refused to buy the airbox from him even though it was cheaper than ones I found on Ebay and in better shape. If he had just given me time to complete my work day and get home, he would have had the sale completed but shipped a day later than what he wanted.

From a day or two after he proceeded to harass me via email over the issue (he's the first and only person I have a block configured in my email settings) and then proceeded to try airing the issue by telling half truths here in the forum (I blocked him here too).

I bought the higher priced airbox from Ebay then discovered it wasn't what I needed. Such is life.

But you don't care about that as he's helped you when you needed and you probably have more time than I do during the day to worry about that stuff. I'm happy for you and I'm sure it works out for both. But I don't have the time or desire to deal with the only my way is the best attitude he has.

I hope your friendship with him lasts; I just don't need that kind of crap.

Well I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. You do what you have to do, I guess some people will never get along.
No one said you or anybody else had to sing praises. Does that give people reason to bad mouth someone on an open forum?

Who started the bad mouthing, it wasn't Eric. But then it's kind of hard for him to do that isn't it.

I guess some feel it's something they need to do. Pretty immature if you ask me.

I figure most members here were of riding age when these bikes were new, so that puts most in their late 40s to early 60s.

But the way they act sometimes it feels like my teenage kids are on here posting, is this Facebook or a vintage motorcycle enthusiests forum.

Oh well whatcha gonna do, can't force maturity.

As far as my time goes, I have work from 7AM-3PM at a job I've held for 24 years, then school across town from 6PM till 11:30PM, that's over an hours drive during rush hour to get to and a 40 min. ride home. So my time is also very limited.

                      Good luck with your build.

                        F that.
i try to tell people what works and what don't....most are just passing through and wasting members time....BUT...i still give 100% accurate information and expect nothing in return except for it to be used.
                        and for the record....yeah yeah..
i have forgotten more than a lot around here will EVER know.

You are giving GOD, er Eric, too much credit. His technical credibility is pretty low, so it's very likely the reason he doesn't want the info out there is because it's a half as$ed or it doesn't exist at all. Wouldn't be the first time Eric was full of $hit.

my only point is....if you know something for sure...preferably that you , yourself have done and know it works 100% then share the information.
i have lost many many jobs by telling people over the phone what to do or check or replace when i could have made money...yes running a business.
i used to get ragged on by other shops for this but...i still did it.
throw the sillynet...internet whatever out the window...this was 2001 and before.
now everyone thinks they know it all because they read it or there net buddy told them so...ppffffffffff
                            what a joke!
