    DOH! Engine fell over..

Okay guys, when i removed the 750 from the frame i sat it on a box about 1ft high, the next morning i went in to find the engine sitting upside down on the ground, it fell off the box and hit on the corner of the tappet cover. Would this of damaged anything inside the motor? If the head has moved slightly this would mean damaged barrel gaskets etc.

Should i tear it down just incase? As i really dont want to put the whole bike back together to find that the engine has a miss in it from a blown gasket.

In the picture it looks like the engine was still bolted together except for the valve cover. If this correct you should be fine in my thinking.

I dropped a $30K airplane engine, off a forklift, right onto the crankshaft flange. Installed it in the plane and never looked back......

Sorry the valve cover was still fitted to it, i took it off this morning to check the condition of the internals. Next stage was to pull the barrels off but i wanted to get opinions before i went ahead.

You might not want this post lurking on the internet too long....

But he's right, you didn't hurt nothin. If a good bonk hurt anything dirt bikes and even most street bikes would never run again.

Something going on with the cam chain and/or tensioner. Chain looks loose.

thats all good Nessism, i removed the tensioner at that point The other benefit of removing the barrels is getting them dipped and having a clean surface for the new paint to stick to, this engine has been painted once or twice before.

Wow , incompetence at its best there. You should be fired! Pretty irresponsible, did you at least perform a crankshaft run out? Did you discuss your options with anybody before making this terribly poor decision?

No run out check on the flange? That's scary!

Why exactly did your missus go and kick your engine off it's box ?????????

                            Cheers , Simon .
