    ok, its official, pops out of 2nd under hard accel

    gear dogs and shift fork? any most common damages? never had a bike that did that..

      Chef1366 is right. I had this exact problem myself. And when I split the cases, sure enough, dogs were rounded off. Luckily, I found i complete 550 lower end on ebay, with extremely low miles, for cheap. You should also be able to find complete transmissions or just the bad gear. Bummer is you will have to split the cases to fix it. Not a super difficult proposition if you have a good manual and take your time.

        Gs1100 you can change trans without complete teardown.

          Like Chef said...worn dogs....been there....
          You can have the trans recut, but it is easier/cheaper to just drop in a new/used trans....
          Shop this forum or eBay...the trans swap is pretty easy.
