    Steel Head Gasket

Hi -this is the first time I have left a message so forgive me if I put this in the wrong spot or my question has been covered elsewhere already. And a huge thanks to every word and pic on GSResources.

I have taken the head off my GS850GT. It has a steel head gasket made up of 3 or 4 layers of metal (cant remember exactly, its not in front of me right now). I will look to get a picture up. It does not look damaged, but can be peeled apart and looks as though it needs a good clean-up.

First, can I reuse this gasket. Second and more important, should I reuse it and what do I need to do, like clean it, pull it apart, use gasket sealer in between the layers or what?

I bought a full gasket kit and have another head gasket [Vesrah Gasket Kit VG-360] so I am not looking to save money, I just want to make sure I am not going to bin something important.

    Thanks
    Craig

Get a new Suzuki head and base gasket.

The head gasket you removed is called MLS (Multiple layer steel).
It is highly recommended that the gaskets you use for the top end (base, head and valve cover gaskets) be genuine Suzuki. The vesrah gaskets should be fine for the bottom end.
