GSX1100EZ will not rev passed 5k

Took the GSX1100EZ for its first spin yesterday, dam nice bike to ride.
I have to say it was so easy to ride. I felt like I could ride it all day.

Handling could be better but I was impressed until I hit 5000 RPM and that's where the power stopped dead.

The bike has good pull off the mark and seemed ok until I hit 5k.
At home I gave the bike a good bit of throttle and man the timing chain is rattily at higher revs, I am wondering if this will root the timing and cause an issue like this?

Sounds more like a clogged carburetor or clogged air filter issue.

Sounds like maybe a carb pilot plug could be missing or damaged, did you clean the carbs?

No I did not clean the carbs.
Yes the air box is installed.

Looks like the carbs are coming out for a clean and new carb kits to be installed.

Anyone know a good place to purchase carb kits?

          thanks for the advice.

Am not an expert, but it might be the ignition system.

When I got my 82 GS550L, I replaced the charging system & overhauled the carbs.
Then ran good but like it had a rev limiter.
So I did the full ignition update (new plug caps + relay mod + Dyna S) & the bike now runs good to redline.
(Have a flat spot from 4.5 to 5k rpm so the carbs need a bit more work next spring.)

No "kit" to buy per se. You'll need new orings from here: Cycleorings.com , and follow Ed Ness's rebuild tutorial here: http://www.mtsac.edu/~cliff/storage/...d_Tutorial.pdf

Also check the Newbie Mistakes thread listed in my signature.

1A) (NEW) Trying to diagnose running problems on a bike with an unknown maintenance history is an exercise in futility until a baseline is established through proper maintenance.

If you are having the same problem after cleaning the carbs change out the igniter.
