    Welded crank?

My engine # is glommed over with black paint, but as near as I can make it out it is:

    _ _ X-150971

Any way to know if my 1100EZ crank is welded?
1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

Yes, late in 82 to cure the twisting problem. Some late 82s also had large left ends on them. More were welded small ends than large end 82s though. Ray.

          Twist risk?

If my 1100EZ is stock except for APE pods and V&H exhaust and I have a heavy hand on the throttle and occasionally red line it, what is the risk of twisting the crank (if that's the correct term)?

            You're fine
Don't put a big block on it even though I ran an 1166 kit with an 80 motor with oversized valves and a street port. Not a problem. Seems they twist young or not at all. (Stock)

Mine did it at about 6 months (1982). Im pretty sure I had never taken it to red line. That day i fired it up, ran about 5-6 miles at 30-45mph. Rolled out to the main road, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, blaaaaaaaa. I knew right away something was wrong.

My 1100EZ was 2/82 production date and the crankshaft twisted.
