    Gs1100ez timing chain tensioner

Hey guys, just trying to figure out if installing a full manual timing chain tensioner is a good or bad idea. I just reinstalled my stock tensioner after a head gasket reseal and Im hearing the chain at idle slightly. I am use to cars and knowing what's normal or not and this to me is not but correct me if I'm wrong. When I say timing chain noise I mean a very slight chain slap type noise mind you only when I first started the bike for only 1 or 2 minutes

Did you release the plunger after you put it in?

I will also ask, but in different words: Did you install it properly?

      1. Retract the plunger, use setscrew to lock it in place.
      2. Mount tensioner to cylinder block.
      3. Loosen the setscrew to release the plunger.
      4. Tighten the setscrew on the plunger, then back it off 1/4 to 1/2 turn, NO MORE.
      5. Use the locknut to hold the setscrew in that slightly-backed-off position.

I am almost sure I did it correctly but I might just do it again to make sure. I'd hate to find out the hard way. Thanks for the help

Did you lock the piston while pushing it in?
Then release it with a good 1/4 turn and lock it down without tightening it?
