Suzuki gs850 piston ring standar

Hi I'm new to the forum, I live in Venezuela. and here it is very difficult to get original parts for these old bikes. I buy all the parts in the U.S., but the rings are reached me a suzuki gs 1000 and more you try will not work. and which are mounted as by 2 mm. My question is, can I use other rings? either another bike, another bike model new, or old, or any vehicle. use of a vehicle would not like me much because these bikes are air cooled and its alloy are different as I have understood. really appreciate a lot who can help me, and finally excuse my English, it is not very good but I'm desperate to make my bike run

I've heard this guys stuff is pretty good. Not sure if this is the correct model for you 850 or not.

So you're saying you have a new set of piston rings but they are for a 1000 and won't fit?

That number looks like it will fit... 1998-on Renault 1.2L, D7F, CL10 (maybe you can find a local supplier?)

Rob, the 1000's rings are 70.0mm which are 1.0mm O/S for the 850's.

I got hung up on this a few years ago trying to put an 850 top end on my 750.

In the end it was quicker and easier to put in a 1000 engine than to get the correct 850 rings.

Doubt you are going to have a lot of options regarding the ring material. Suzuki's top ring is chrome which is hard, but wouldn't worry about that. Just look for something that fits.
