    check my valve check/shim numbers please

    Just completed valve check on the 650E
    The results: clearance in mm/inch and current shim size:
    Exhaust
    1-.05mm, .002in, 275 shim
    2- .05mm, "" 280x shim
    3- .05mm, "" 280x shim
    4- .05mm, "" 275x shim

    INTAKE
    1 .04mm, .015in 265 shim
    2- .04mm,.015in 265x shim
    3- UNDER .04mm(cant measure) 270 shim
    4- UNDER .04mm (cant measure) 270 shim

    I know the intake surely needs it.

    Need help with new shim sizes. It seems it would be ok to leave the exhaust alone , but the X (oversize shim) throws me off. Not sure if I need exhaust also.

    Looking for a couple "pros" to chime in with new measurements so , 1- don't mess up and 2- I don't mess up.

    Looking for a couple opinions on sizes to make the best shim choice.

      It really is simple. Just replace the 0 in your shim size to a number 2. So, your 2.65 is actually a 2.67 Looking at your numbers, basically they ALL could drop one shim size except # 3 & 4 exhaust which should drop two sizes.
      Then, you should be good to go for another 4,000-6,000 miles

              Rule of thumb
              If you you can not get a feeler gauge in there but you can turn the bucket, drop one shim size.
              If you you can not get a feeler gauge in there and you can not turn the bucket, drop two shim sizes.
              Should put you right in the ball park.

                  Thanks for your replies guys, I have been talking to Steve and he also explained a number of valve adjustment tips....
                  I am going to do a double check on my clearances and switch around a few to maximize my clearances and order the minimum amount to get them all in the middle of the range.
                  I did figure out Steves spreadsheet and am definitely on board with it.
