How critical is it for me to buy the same push rods that came off my bike? Backstory...my chain broke off on the freeway a few days back. That same day I noticed it felt like the clutch was slipping at freeway speed. It would rev like I was changing gears. Also three weeks ago a friend tightened my chain. Today I am without a chain and the push rod is broken into 4 pieces. It is also very bent. Immediately following the chain break, all the oil leaked out near the clutch pedal.
I took off the cover and cleaned what seemed like 1/2" of oil and grine. I need a chain, a push rod and a the rubber seal. I cannot for the life of me find the same push rod I just removed from my bike. It is 4" long and looks as though the ends were manually tapered. Please help with any aspect of this thread but most of all can I buy a piece of stainless and use that as a push rod? Thank you!
