    shipping weight?

Can anyone help me with an estimate of a gs 650 engine weight? (for shipping) I'm thinking about buying one to build with my daughter without ripping apart my (presently) running engine.

Just buy a whole bike - 3 non runners recently surfaced in my tiny corner. Bound to be some everywhere! great father/daughter project!

My GS1150 motor weighs 189 lbs. without a counter sprocket and oil.

I don't like to assume much, but I would guess that a 650 is less.

BUT, by the time you add a pallet, straps, cardboard, and any other packing or accessories the shipping weight was about 240lbs. I got my 1150 motor shipped from San Jose, Ca to Portland, OR for $175. It's about 700 miles up I-5. I can also only assume it would be more to AK for you. Only an assumption.

I think buying a whole basket case or two would be both more fun, and cheaper. Maybe you could buy enough junkers to make a matching pair for the two of you.
