82 1100e cam end plugs question

I noticed when I removed the rubber cam plugs on an 82 gs1100e that they were a actually hard plastic with an indentation around the entire outer edge with rubber material peeling off of it.

If I was reading this post I would assume the plugs are old and hard and the rubber coming off was some kind of previous gasket seal. With that being said, they do look like a rubber sleeve is supposed to go around these.

My question is there a "rubber sleeve" that goes around the cam plug, or do I just order whole new cam plugs?

      Ok, thanks Ray, I will.

BTW, I hope an add on question is appropriate. As I adjusted his valves I set them at .10mm (just so I could slide the feeler gauge in and out without it binding).

      1. One of the valves is almost to it's very end of adjustment... what causes that and what is the fix for it?

      2. Can valve adjustments cause motor to burn hotter or cooler? And if so, within the .08mm to .13mm range, is a larger gap or smaller gap better?
