    clutch armature

Just to be sure, the clutch arm coming off the case when no cable is attached should be parallel with the case, correct?

Generally no. Everyone I've touched has been slightly canted outwards.

With no cable attached, the arm is canted outward without play but no excessive force on springs. attach cable, cable adjustment near clutch is all the way in, fine adjustment midway up cable is set to middle, and nut and barrel adjustment at lever is all the way in with 3 mm of play? So your swinging thru parallel when you pull in the clutch, does that make sense?
