    79 GS 550 clutch stuck

I have a 79 gs550 cafe project that I need some help with. The clutch seems to be stuck. When I pull the clutch lever the clutch will not move. The cable and the clutch plate mechanism are in good shape. The clutch was taken apart and put together within specification. Any ideas what could cause this problem?

How does the lever feel? Can you feel the normal spring resistance of the pressure plate releasing when you pull in the lever? What does "stuck" mean?

    To measure is to know.

Thanks for the quick reply! It feels like the pressure plate is not releasing when i pull the lever. The clutch plate is disengaged by a long rod and i don't think this rod is moving. It is as if the pressure plate is stuck. However, i took the clutch apart and measured all the parts to see if everything was within spec. I did not see a reason for the plate to be stuck when it was apart.

I also looked at the worm gear mechanism. it seems to be working fine. It is a little loose but not by much.

bottom it out lightly then back it out 1/2 turn and jam the nut down without the screw turning inwards.
you can remove the clutch cover and pull in the clutch lever and watch the pressure plate move.
you will see then if it is working..

Does the bike stall when you put it into gear, or does it seem like there is not enough disengage ? I got to tell you these Guy's schooled me on a disengage problem , I chased for a year and a half. Regular car oils don't work , you need a good cycle oil that's wet clutch rated . Bike shifts like butter now . Thanks Everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
