GS1000G clutch go into chaindrive?

Can anybody tell me if the GS1000g clutch (basket etc) fits the chain drive GS1000?

It will fit in the engine but it will stick out too far to put the clutch cover back on. Clutch plates do not interchange either.

hey dar don't the basket need near .500 machined off to fit in the pre 80 chain drive cases?
i have done a few conversions but i forget the exact amount i removed from the basket.

I'm not sure of the amount but I don't think that it's as much as .500"

Cheers all, I thought the G clutch did not fit but I thought I'd ask as I've got a GS1000G H/D clutch in the shed.
