    Splitting Cases

    I'm stripping my three toasted race motors in preparation for recycling the steel and aluminum. I can't even get a crack started on the very first motor. I'm trying to do this the correct way as a learning opportunity.

    Any advise?

      There are two spots that are designed a pry points..one at the front of the cases and one at the back of the tranny. Youll see the two offset areas about 3/4 inch long..one on top of the other..youll recognise them when you see them. Big wide flat tip and some twisting and prying motion will crack the sealer loose.

        Make sure you have all the bolts removed before you try to split them

          Yes..the front center one is usually the one folks miss.

            accessible from the top or bottom? I almost missed the two allen head bolts in the oil filter cavity

              Should be from the bottom front where the halves join....and I think theres one inside the oil pan cover too. remove the pan and see if theres a 12 or 14 MM bolt head there.

                  I'm done for today. I went trials riding on a 30+ year old bike and had my ass handed to me. Sidecar racing is a piece of cake by comparison!
