          half moon or valve cover - both of which will need to be looked at and replaced at your next valve adjustment.

              A little RTV works well sealing those half moons - temporarily of course

                  Sounds like a great opportunity to do your valves. To replace the half moons you may very well destroy the valve cover gasket. Go ahead and pickup up both the moons and the VC gasket while doing the valves and you'll kill three birds with one stone.

                  If you don't need the valve cover gasket this time, then you'll have one as a spare when the current one becomes useless.
