    84 1150 clutch bolts

Changing the clutch plates on the 1150 and have a couple questions.

1- service manual says 7-10 ft lbs, what is the correct way to get this? do I just start the threads and use the torque wrench till it reads 9, or do I tighten till they just snug, then use the torque wrench?

2-can I change out the bolts for metric cap screws with no issues?

I ask this because I've snapped 2 of the damn things already, no problems getting them out or finding replacements, (there's 3 more parts bikes in the attic), I just don't want a repeat of 2am last night/this morning.

Stock clutch parts by the way, nothing fancy, just replacing the friction plates.

    tks

Dont use a foot pound torque wrench use and inch pound torque wrench. The Ft # wrench is why off at that low of a setting.
If you don't have one run down to harbor freight and pick up an Inch pound wrench.

Thanks. I stopped in at a friends place that has a machine shop that likes his toys, and he hooked me up.
