    Did I ruin my pistons

I just cleaned them with a wire brush...then I noticed the coating. Well, they're clean. Did I ruin them?

    Black Teflon coating?

Don't say can't, as anything is possible with time and effort, but, if you don't have time things get tougher and require more effort.

Silver. About the same as the metal.

Did you "clean" just the tops or the sides as well? If just the top, they're perfectly fine. If any material was taken off the sides, you probably need new ones.

Got any pics of said carnage?

They are probably fine. I clean the tops of carbon all the time with a wire brush and carb spray. Youre not hurting anything by cleaning the tops off.
