    Suzuki GSX1100 -80 engine in a -81 GS1000G

    Hello!

    I've recently aquired a 1981 Suzuki GS1000G, shaft drive.
The engine has problems with the starter, guessing it is the starter clutch issue.
I'm wondering if the GSX1100 -1980 engine will fit in the frame, are the engine mounts the same?
I know that engine is for chain drive, that is one of the reasons for the swap as i've got a set of R1 rims lying around which would be a nice improvement.

    Thanks,

    Peter

Totally different engines, it won't work. Not only would you have to change all the mounts, but the swingarm as well and that would be a nightmare.

Ofcourse i would have to change that. I have access to a full mechanical workshop with lathes, mills, welding equipment and all sorts of material. I like nightmares.
But thanks for your reply, now i know that it will be more trouble than i was hoping.
