Last night I was drinking a few beers and drunk Andy decided to pull the engine out of the bike. Dorkbox has some issues due to the previous owner being a moron. But I'm not one to back down from a fight. As I'm getting ready to spend some money on new parts I got thinking that maybe I want to just get a bigger engine. I don't want to put money into a 550 if a larger engine is a straight swap. A lot of the parts on the bike have "550\750" on them. Does that mean a 750 would bolt right in? would all the parts be usable? Or do I just stick with the 550 and use the bike as my bar hopper? This is my play bike. My other bike is a champ. Dorkbox is just for fun.

A common upgrade is to put a 650 top end on the 550. Gives you more displacement and a 6 speed trany. A win-win scenario.

To answer your question, no, a 750 engine will not bolt in. The 550 frame is too small1978 GS 1000 (since new)

Yes, you keep the six speed that came out of the 550 but put in a larger top end from the 650Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace
