Clutch back plate HD ???

Yes it's the same old clutch subject...
i have read most threads about the cluch mods but can't find the type of clutch back plate wich is used for the revision/upgrade.
Is It from a Harley Sportster ? From what model/year ?
Can it be used without modifications ?

I have never heard of using a Harley sportster clutch part on a GS . But APE does sell a Heavy Duty backing plate and springs for them. Check out GS Zone

It's a good laugh; HD is heavy duty not Harley Davidson...
The bike is a GS1000E from 1978
The bearings and the basket are useable but the springs have become to short.
Because i've separated the clutch i thought i might as well replace the back plate.
But the basket and the gear take most of the spring load so I'll guess I'll just settle for the original back plate.
Because of the price of the Hardly Dunbuy springs (140 pounds in the UK) i'll just shim the springs and weld it together.

Has anyone tried welding the whole thing together and getting rid of the springs? I have several 1100 clutch baskets, I would donate one if someone wants to try....

No I haven't, Nessism pointed it out but I couldn't find it.

It is a pity Suzuki doesn't sell the parts for the clutch.
Should I check the backlash between driving gear and clutch gear ?
