My '79 gs1000 chutch chatters at low idle and I'm expecting its a loose hub nut (hoping that's all it is.). The bike has 42K miles and I got it running pretty good and roadworthy but I haven't put many miles on it.
Gonna get a good look at the clutch but if the nut is loose, should I order the APE nut and wait or cranks that sucker on and get back on the road? I have other bikes but just got the front end on the gs and want to ride it. Oh, and what about cranking the nut on? years back I broke a harley trans main shaft I forget what I was doing but it involved the clutch hub nut. On the GS is it regular right hand threads and is there a procedure for locking the shaft and torquing the nut or do I just hit it with electric impact??
