You can always fit a 84-85 1150EF fairing onto the GS1100E's.
      These are from ebay.

It's a nice fairing and gives you good protection while looking nice.
I have the one from skip/Luke's 1150 and plan on putting it onto my 83 this winter. With the 83 you can mount it directly to the frame with on brackets being made. Simple to make.
I have the side and lower also and it does great. I did take the set-up on a shakedown ride this past spring and worked well.
There seems to be a good amount of these fairings on e-bay now-a-days.

Is that 1150E fairing the same color, starry blue metallic, from the 83 GS1100E's???

According to the color chart on Alpha that would be Space Blue Metallic

I also forgot to mention, to mount the 1150 as seen you will need the frame work that the shell mounts to.
I know that the fairing style has been cut down before and handlebar mounted such as this smooth example.

Yes, my 83 is that color, it's a lighter blue, called "starry blue metallic".

                        maier fairing

SOLD... after doing countless hours of research and looking at my dads 1/4 fairing (ebay special) bullet fairing I just couldnt bring myself to put that on my 82 1100E so I came to the same conclusion the maier sport fairing and also just sourced out a 7 in headlight from ebay so I could get the "projector" style lens. local parts store hooked me up with a couple busted up ones so I could test fit and help decide on round or rectagle obviously went with the round after all its not a Kawasaki ha ha

                          Craig,
That is a great looking fairing for the EZ/ED. How much modification was required to get it to handlebar mount? It was originally frame mount right? You dont happen to have pics of the mount?

BTW I have Maier mounted on my GS1100ED, the headlamp cut out was enlarged by the PO, but it doesnt look as good as that 1150 fairing.

I'm confused, that other fairing is not a stock 1150 unless it was heavily modified

That was a VERY heavily modified (as in chopped to hell) 1150 fairing Jim...the pic you have is correct. I would like to find one of those to fit to my ES, however I wouldnt cut it down...
