how to drill fiber glass?

whats the best way to drill fiberglass like a fiber glass fairing, so i don't mess up the holes or the area around the holes.

Use some tape. The tape you use when masking details, that not should be painted, is very good at this purpose

Tape is great! Also sharpen the drill to a steeper angle, so the point has smaller contact area at the lands.

Both good points, and you do want the bit to be sharp, to avoid wandering and chipping.

Some would suggest beginning with a smaller diameter bit, then moving up. The idea is good, but you need a sharp bit and a steady hand to avoid having the larger bit grab and tear on first contact.

Also use high speed and slow very light pressure.

thanks guys, used a drill bit cut to drill plastic (it has a 60 degree pointed tip) and it worked awsome, just took it easy and let the bit do the work and it made some real nice crisp edged holes.

I always bevel the edge of the hole too to help prevent chipping out.
