Some pics of my 82' 1100E resto

I know a lot of you saw these pics already, but it seems my original post went bye-bye with the server transfer. Heres some pics of my restoration:

Here it is the day I brought it home. Up close it needs a LOT of TLC:

Heres a pic of the blasted and cleaned wheel:

The "machine trued", blasted, and gold painted imitation Brembo rotors

Heres the rear end all polished, and clear coated with new rubber also. My theme is getting away from all the black parts:

    More resto pics

Heres the front end all restored:

Heres a pic of the early stages of fitting a Lockhart vintage 1/4 fairing. That headlight bucket is off an 82 Yam XJ850 (the stock 9" Suz headlight was WAY too big): I had to move the bucket up 1-5/8, and foreward 1-1/4", so I fabbed some Ti brackets:

    Heres the brackets I fabbed:

Here it is all mocked up. It should be a good compramise of looks, and function:

      a few more pics:

Currently all the bodywork is off being repainted. I am also waiting on my Corbin gunfighter saddle. As soon as I make some more progress I will update!

Hi Rich, You've done a very nice job, almost took the advice to report these pics as offensive. Looks too nice. I've been going the route of getting rid of many black parts also. Really like the wheels with the contrast between the blast finish and the polished areas. Keep the good work up, summer is on the way. Ray

I think the '82 1100 is one of the best body styles Suzuki has ever come up with. Nice job!

You guys should take stock out in Krylon semi gloss. LOL,

Besides do you know how much weight I have saved by stripping all that thick black paint off my 600 lb GS??!!! My bike is going to produce an equivalant of 11 more hp!!!!!!!!

Here are all of your old threads in the Appearance Mods section buddy.

Well, now my GS is stripped to a rolling bare frame (with the engine still installed). I now have a good understanding of what needs to be done as far as minor repairs and generall parts clean up. The body paint is in great shape. (not enough wear to justify a total body repaint). The frame has severall lightly rusted pieces,

OK, I am getting away from the early 80's "everything black" theme. I have 2 choices on my wheels: Option A: completely blasted, and polished perimeter with no paint, (leaving a bare aluminum matte finish in place of the black paint) Option B: polished perimeter, with gold in place of the black paint

I know this is a longshot........but anyone fitted this fairing to a GS1100E model? The dimensions listed indicate it should fit (but it will be tight). I am sure I could mod the opening to fit the superbike looking GS 9" headlight. My primary concern is the guage pod clearence (specifically lack of?) Heres the link for

You need to change your options in the User CP to show all threads. The default uses a cut off date. The threads are all still here, your just not seeing them until you change this. I made the same mistake.
