    Repainting GS Front Shocks

I like to restore GS models but have struggled to get the shocks on the front looking original. I usually end up polishing them as I couldn't find any paint to match or replicate the original factory grey colour (Canadian spelling for color). So today I tried Rust-Oleum Painters Touch Aluminium Metallic and the is a near dead ringer to the factory colour! Nice to know if you are looking for the original look.

To my knowledge, the lower fork sliders were polished aluminum, with a clear coat. Just like the engine covers.

When doing these, I first polish with a sisal wheel and heavy gray cutting compound. Then, use 600 or 800 grit sandpaper, and create a "brushed" directional finish. Lastly, cover with urethane clear coat.
