    1979 GS1000 S engine case emblems

I am looking to replace the engine case emblems on my 1000 project. The left side alternator cover emblem is pretty easy to find and I have a couple different versions of that one. I haven't had any luck finding the points cover right side. I even bought a couple of decals to replace them but they look crap / cheap. I would like to keep the stock look with the DOHC if possible. Has anyone had any luck finding these and if so where. Does anyone know if emblems from a different model might fit like a GS 550 ? They appear to be 3.5" in diameter. Last resort might be 1100 emblems but I would prefer to not have the TSCC printing on it.

Maybe just me, but having the proper emblems, especially for a bike like a 1000S, are a sign of completeness. There is some controversy over the letter color for the 1000S bikes, but both of my old 1980 1000S bikes had gold, so my assumption is that the 1979 is same.

I searched a long time and never found any proper OEM-style metal ones for my '79. I think it will be tough or impossible to find them. I didn't want to chance it on the plastic ones, and ended up settling for these 'DOHC' silver ones. I think it looks perfectly fine but it's not correct.

        I have the opposite problem
I've got several points cover emblems and recently found an alternator cover emblem.

Ended up finding this used ignition cover on eBay for about $30 shipped. Better than what I had before.

Just the emblem, if you can find them, are $150-$200 or more for NOS!!

If you spray paint the emblem black, then come back after it's dry with a sanding block and kiss the top of the letters to remove the paint, it will turn out pretty decent.

Adeptpowersports.com will show you what models have the same ignition cover. You could search eBay for a used one from these models.

              https://www.adeptpowersports.com/oem...9002-part.html

Or if you are after just the emblem, it looks like it was used on a few others. Could remove it and reapply perhaps if you find it on a different shaped cover.

Bumping this back up. I've got three different early year type ignition cover emblems. Size is 3.15" diameter.
