    Saddle Bag/Sissy Bar

    Hello All,

Hope everyone is gearing up for another great riding season. I recently did a lot of work on my 82' GS450t, got the carbs clean and rebuilt and got the tank/side plates repainted, among other things. I was curious if anyone had good saddle bag recommendations. This is my first bike so I am not necessarily too familiar, especially with saddle bag sizing. Also, was thinking about adding a sissy bar with a back cushion. Was curious if anyone else had done this and would have any advice for me.

    Thanks!

Did you find a sissy bar? I think I saw some on ebay in the past, but haven't looked in a long time.

Adding saddlebags require some type of sub frame so the bags can't swing in to the chain /rear wheel. If you have that base covered, its kind of up to you when it comes to size and style. I have Givi soft bags on my GS1100GK since the originals are....... "delicate". We put some Oxford P50R bags on my wife's GS450E, but that's the sportier version of your T model. Both bags I mentioned might be on the larger side for you though.

Revzilla seems to have a fairly large selection of saddlebags, but they are definitely not the only name in the game.

i don't know how helpful this is, but, i have a 450t and it thankfully came with a sissy bar from the p.o.; it has a large luggage rack in the back, big enough to strap down my 75 liter backpacking pack to it. here's what it looks like. it mounts at the shock bolts and the seat/blinker bolts. the only markings on it says "arco, no. hollywood, calif."

I can't find any 450 specific ones on ebay. but there's some for a 550 (and other GS models), maybe it can be modified to fit. i think at this point, you'll need to get creative ...

YOU'RE VIEWING A BACKREST THAT HAS BEEN REMOVEDFROM A 1980 80 SUZUKI GS550E. AN EXACT QUOTE, IF NEEDED, WILL BE GIVEN UPON PURCHASING.

I’m 2-1/2 hours from Harleysville, but if you want mine, similar to the eBay link above, you can have it for $100. I’ll even help you mount it. Has served me well but I no longer need it. I will not ship it.
