    Removing Tach Permanently

I have a 79' GS1000 and I have purchased an electronic tach as I would like to get rid of the OE instrument cluster. My question is, for those of you who have done this. What did you use to plug the hole in the head/valve cover where the tach drive cable enters? I havn't looked at the speedo drive yet, but do I need to do something similar there to keep grime out? Thanks.

I used an oil gallery plug from a MBE4000 ( Mercedes Benz heavy duty diesel) it even has an aluminum washer, on my gs 400. I am sure the tach drive is going to have the same threads as it does on your bike

fill the screw from the original cable with fiberglass, seal all, bondo, or something.
