which gsxr pegs??

My 80 1100 will be getting gsxr pegs. I like the way they look and know others have used them. How did you mount them and what years worked the best? I like the way the shifter and pegs, and brake and pegs are bolted together, a big improvement over the bulky gs stuff.

In my case I cut off the plates the stock setup bolted to and welded plates where the rear subframe meets the frame behind the swingarm pivot point, then drilled and tapped to mount the rearsets.

This is the only way to go. Do it right or dont do it at all.

The GSXR frame is aluminum, you talking about aluminum GSXR tabs welded to steel GS1100E frame (I know you are not ; so I'm confused) .

I beleive he is talking about welding steel mounting plates to the steel chassis then bolting the rearsets to those plates.

1/4" steel plate welded to the frame to mount the GSX-R rearsets to, not aluminum plate welded to the GS frame.

That area is also one of the points you gusset to help stiffen the frame near the swingarm pivot.

Billy, what's that do to the riding position? One thing I don't want is all my weight on my arms. I want to keep a mostly upright driving position. What bars did you use?

I'm only about 5'8" so bringing the pegs up and back wasn't a big deal. It's kind of like riding with your fit on the rear pegs. When I had a Superbike bend above the top triple the riding position was actually pretty good. Weight was pretty much all in the seat. No pressure on the hands and wrist at all. Now I have clipons below the top triple and on the street it is a little tough on the hands and wrist. On the highway it goes away and isn'ta bother.

Here are a set of busa pegs. They fit nice as you can see. They have a good angle of dangle to mount to the subframe.

These are bolted to 1/4" plate welded to frame with three threaded holes. They are within 1/4" of stock position. They also have the correct shifter link length for the katanas. Don't know about the 1100e.

Another thing to watch out for is the position in relation to the swingarm. It may fit sitting there but make sure nothing hits when shocks are fully compressed which can be over 5" of wheel travel. Some gsxr rear masters have the brake hose fitting exiting toward the wheel and one good bump can take tare a hole in your tire or rip off the fitting.... neither of which is a good thing at speed. So make sure you space them out accordingly.

I used Bandit rearsets. Fabricated plates from steel and bolted them up.
