Did you mask the red before you hit it with the pearl?
My thoughts exactly great job of detailing around the decals.

Fender was a total repaint. Used two pack PPG epoxy primer first. The tank needed some rust repair on the bottom edge so used POR-15 paint to seal the raw metal after I ground off the rust. After that it was epoxy primer followed by the base/pearl/clear. Wound up redoing all the pearl on the tank since that was easiest. Of course, cleared the entire tank as well - used PPG urethane 2010 clear. The Pearly Shinny White paint color match is good. I'm happy.

Wow..this looks really good! I want to have ny entire bike done, I got a quote of $800 includes new decals plus shipping of all the parts.

What kind of sprayer did you use? and how much was it? I am trying to weigh all the costs....did you mask off the decals?

      great job man!

Yea, masked off the red. For a complete repaint the masking would be on the white since the red would go on after.

To paint I use an old 2hp/20 gallon compressor and a couple of touch-up spray guns - one for primer and a second for the regular paint. Harbor Freight has some good prices on compressors, or there is always Sears. My "good" gun is a Sata Mini-jet - I paid a lot of money for that thing. You can get knockoff copies that are pretty good for much less - look for the Astro brand. Harbor Freight also sells spray guns for cheap.

Paint is not cheap if you are thinking about doing your own. Figure on $100 each for primer/base/clear for materials - you will have lots of extras though, enough for several more bikes. You also need a spray mask, glasses, sand paper, etc. Labor of love to some extent although $800 sounds like you would have room to buy all the tools + paint and still break even or even come out ahead.

Good luck and let me know if you have any specific questions.

Ain't it the truth. Honestly, I'm not that good but these modern two-part paints and a spray gun allow even a hack like me to get professional results.

What I want next is a sandblast cabinet and a powder coat oven. Some guy was throwing out a gas range the other day and I almost snagged it for curing powder coat. I read that you need an electric range though so balked a little and someone else took it. Some day...
