    Redone seat, GS750ED

Well, I got tired of sliding down the seat everytime I got hard on the throttle so I decided to redo the seat.
Starting point, the seat wasn't cracked but was smooth as glass and Hard!

Concept, adding 1.5" of dual density memory foam to my seat area, 1" dual density memory foam for the wife.
    [IMG][/IMG]
After pulling at least 100 staples out of the seat pan the cover came off
    [IMG][/IMG]
The foam itself was still OK, but a little hard for me.

    To be continued

This is what the pan looks like from below, it is ABS I think so you can shoot staples into it

After gluing the new foam to the old foam I needed something to hold it in place, Tensors (I have had many knee surgeries)
    [IMG][/IMG]
Unwrapped it and trimmed it to give it a good profile and started putting the vinyl on, contact cement first then staple it on.

The final product, looks good can't wait to put it on the bike

    TOTAL COST:
    $15 for material
$12 for two peices of foam
$4 for a zillion staples and contact cement.
I am going to say $35 once it is all figured out, still have lots of material left over.
If I did it beginning to end, I would put the time at 2-3 hours tops.

        Hey Mr. Clone,

Very nice work. The new seat looks great. Quite economical too. Thanks for sharing.

        Thank you for your indulgence,

I got the material and the foam from a fabric supply house locally.

Looks good, did you have a problem stapling into the ABS?

What staple gun did you use?

I'm sure others will want to know.

I just used the old Bostich heavy duty stapler I have had for a while with 1/4" staples. It would have been easier with an electric or air powered stapler. But it worked out ok. Granted the wifey helped by stretching the material.
After driving around all day today, I think next time 1" of foam would be sufficient. The seat is way more comfy, I don't slide down it and I don't get numb butt after 30 minutes.
