    Any Deep Cleaning Tips?

    My GS is my first bike. Its an 82 model and I was able to get it running really well. Quite a task. but now I'm ready to really clean it. Engine, exhaust pipes, all the chrome and everything. I have an air compressor and lots of tools for it. Anyone have any good tips to make that thing really slick? thanks.

          Die Grinder is the best tool you will use... Various buffing/polishing and My fav is the deburring wheel for all that aluimummm.

                          trusty soap, sponge and water should get you far. Simple Green, 3M scotch brite pads, engine degreaser for the motor, and CAREFUL use of a power washer. a gallon of WD-40 for degreasing. don't worry about wax/buffing compounds until it is fully cleaned.

                              The polishing balls like the ones Flitz sells are nice. Just make sure you only use one in for that polish/rubbing compound. Dont want to compound while you thought you were polishing. Also make the shaft is protecting from marring the metal surface. A piece of nylon tubing will work great, but not rubber tubing. Some people using Simple Green or Purple Power (thats what I have and use) Ive heard a few people using an off brand of oven cleaner and let it set for a short time. And then others are hardcore and god do I envy them for their mental condition, do each part bit by bit using nothing more than elbow grease.

                                  I've used purple power and found it to be really bad for your skin. It's a powerful basic detergent that will eat through gloves and make a 'soapy feel' which is the cleaner eating at your tissue. you must dilute it, and be careful when using it on aluminum. simply green is the safer bet- it won't harm your skin.

                                      The black motors are not only FASTER, but MUCH easier to clean & NOTHING to look bad if it's NOT polished!!! Ray.
