3" is about average for most dragbars. I have a set I bent for mine that are just at 2 3/4". That 1/4" may not sound like much, but it made all the difference to me

Oh and your centers should be roughly 5" or more

well if you made them the o.d. would have to be 7/8 inch so i would advise just cause i bought mine at a motorcycle shop for about 20 buh so really how much do you think your really going to save?

I got mine from JcWhitney they were like 24 dollars and seem every bit as good as any handlebars I have ever owned. I caught a special got free shipping also. I used some bailing wire and bent ot the distance and rise, and whatever the other dimension is, to get a 'feel or look' for what the bars would be like on my bike.

I put a set on my 78 GS1000. One think that I encountered was that the banjo fitting for the brake line was a little close to the triple tree. Not that it would rub but I didn't like it. Also, they were so low that my hands would go numb even on short rides. I have superbike bars on one of my other bikes and those work good for me. So, in order to raise the drag bars up around where the superbike bars are, I bought a 1" riser. It made all the difference in the world.
