Paint Color

I think my '81 850GX was repainted as the side covers and tank are black. I think that they were either brown or blue from the factory. Is this true? If so, is there any way I can tell the original color? I have looked at the fronts and backs of the side covers and closely at the tank. I really don't want to start sanding away the black paint to see what is under there...

Also, does anyone know where I might be able to get '81 decals? I have searched everywhere on the net and can't find anyone with them for '81.

This looks like tank emblems from an 80-81 GX.

It's listed as a G, there is also a GL listed, but you can select the GX fuel tank in the list of choices. There's another place w/a parts fiche with better prices, I'll try to post that address.
