So i found a sporster tank for 50bucks with petcock! Also got the rear fender strusts on. Dropped my seat off at the saddelery shop to have it done. The guy said end of the month!! This thing is coming together. The DOM for the backbone should be here next week sometime. Then i have to conquer the wiring......I hate wiring

So i scrapped the stock tank idea and have decided to go with the sportster tank. Also got the fender halfway mounted..I'm going to make the struts at work tomorrow. Also scrapped the seat i was going to use, and made a bigger one. I'm having a local amish guy skin it...

There was a lot of good tips already but this is what I did on my shaft drive chop. I usually use some hose taped to the tire and maybe a rag on top. Leave a little extra room for swelling. I mounted mine in the winter and it was fine but in the summer it rubbed and I had to remove it and fix it. I bolted fender struts to the frame and fender. I also welded a tab to the seat cross bar and ran a bolt through that and the fender. Sorry I don't have a close up pic of it.

Put a couple of spacers off the crossbar under the seat and a set of fender struts at the rear. That'll do it, thats how I did mine. Used a front fender just like you too!

I would. Something simple and small to hold it in place. Would hate to see it break free and get slapped around by the chain there. Id just run a piece of 1/4" by 1" flat stock between the 2 down tubes there and bolt it to it with a rubber washer for shock and vibration. Its kinda the way Im remounting mine on the swingarm chop Im building. But my fender is a bit more expose so I can use my stock modifies tail/brake light. Ill pop a shot or 2 of my setup so you can see what it looks like.

Come off youre hardtail upper tubes. Do fender struts. just remember to give no less than an inch to allow for tire swell and such. I like to use a section of large dia. garden hose for the offset. And if you run a strond enough set of struts on it, you can allow for a P-Pad too. Looking good.
