    GS 850G-So what?!!

    Shafte, heck ya.
I've had the bike for about 2 mos or so and rode it more today than ever, 30 miles or so

Lots of thought, imagination, metal twisting, reading this board and help from kind members has gotten it to where it is today.

Originally got it for my kid and I to work on durring the winter but once I started I couldnt stop. ALmost everyday, something is doing..
Im not sure what ya might call it, cafe, rat, cafe rat?

At any rate it runs fantastic, not perfect but close. A little more whinny and noisier than I'm used to but fun.
Handles pretty good too. Real nimble. Reminds me of riding a heavy dirtbike.
Still needs a seat cover and mirrors. Also want to do a repaint with matte clear. Did the side covers and they look much blacker than the tank and tail section....as time permits.

The first pic is when I got it home and rolled it off the trailer.
The second pic is what it looks like today, well actually, yesterday.
    Comments and bashes welcome!!

What kind of rear wheel is that? I didn't know there was a shaft driven wheel available with that spoke pattern.

Very nice!!! I like it. post more pics. It's a lot better done than a lot of projects that I have seen. It's not necessarily WHAT you want to do with something, but HOW you do it. Looks darn good from what you posted. I still want more pics but I'm impressed.

Yeah, I think its off of a sportster. It was on the bike when I got it.
Someone gutted it but its still not very loud.

I tried to come up with something better(and may still) but for the money I couldnt beat it and I didnt think it looked too bad.

                      More pics..
Thanks for the props fellas. Kind of a shot in the dark with a project like this.
                      Aint no instructions out there.

Put about 50 miles on it today.. Gotta get that seat covered. My ass still hurts.
I still gotta get used to reving too. Dont seem to like to lug much.

Oh, I changed the oil to Rotella 15-40, much quieter.

Nope, made to spin. Wind it out.
Power should start at about 7.

No tach.. All I know is it sounds like it could blow at anytime but it just keeps climbing. Quite the fun little bike.

Whatcha think about it, no comment?

I like it a lot, nice work.

                            It shouldn't blow, it's an 860.

I quite like it. I'm lurking around the local Harley dealer myself to see if I can score a free take off.
