After derusting my tank with phosphoric acid, it was sealed over with Por-15 tank sealer - the silver stuff. The Por-15 sealer is good stuff I think, much better than Kreem for example from my experience but I wouldn't use it to patch holes. Caswell's sealer is an epoxy resin and seems pretty good stuff too, and it's much thicker than Por-15 sealer so it would be more appropriate for a tank with holes I think.

nice work sir! Did you paint the engine itself? What did you use and what was the color.

I am thinking my 1100 engine could you a coat to bring everything up to tidy.

The engine was painted with POR-15 aluminum color Engine Enamel after sand/bead blasting the metal. The engine covers were polished and then cleared with POR-15 Glisten clear. http://www.por15.com/ The Glisten clear is not rated for high temperature so gambling at bit on that.

Hi Ed, wonderful work with the gun, they didn't leave the factory looking that good in those days! I am planning to use the POR 15 aluminium engine enamel on my GSX, what is your opinion on the POR 15 aluminium as a colour match to the original scheme? I realise its not made as an ex-factory colour but is it close do you think? Thank you for the great pics, cheers.

Having seen it I would say it's a pretty good match maybe just a touch bright but that could be because I'm not old enough to have ever seen a stock one new!!
