How did you get such a good deal?!

In Sweden these forks cost roughly 28 000SEK from MotoSpeed, the main Ohlins dealer over here. That's roughly $4200.

I found these discounted for $2000 + $125 for shipping. That's just about half the price.

Even if I were to get hit with 25% tax in the customs, they would still be around $1500 cheaper than if I were to buy them from MotoSpeed.

Just a matter of waiting now... the worst part about buying stuff.

Trip down to Stockholm last weekend in January. Then I'll visit ISR and speak to Acke Rising about getting a good price on all the hardware I'm buying.

Forks shipped today. There were some complications and delays but now they are on the way. Should be on my end of the globe early next week.

In other news? Been working on figuring out where to put the new shock mounts on the swingarm. Need to move them back a bit to gain some clearance for the chain over the swingarm.



And the head should have arrived in England by now. Should be ready around new years. Can't wait.

Got the new headlight mounts from a guy over on oldskoolsuzuki.info today. Turned out really nice, and for ?20, I can't really argue about the price either.





Gonna start working on the swingarm tomorrow I think. Making some drawings and so on.

Went down to the workshop last night to cut up some ally from a 150mm axle (scrap like this comes in handy sometimes).



Cut two 50mm thick discs.



Then I turned over these to a local fellow who is pretty handy with the mill. He's gonna make me some new shock mounts and mounts for the swingarm brace.

In other news: the forks are now in Sweden, but I suspect they are going to hit a snag in the customs and my wallet is going to get raped. Pray with me that they don't!

Yesterday I added some cosmetic enhancements to the valve cover. Not much but the bare metal makes the text "pop" a bit more.



After that I dealt with a seemingly unimportant aspect of an engine, but truth is, it's actually very important. Without enough fuel in a performance engine you're looking at possible engine failure, so in order to remedy this, I invested in one of these.



A Pingle "race" fueltap with dual outlets. Shouldn't have to worry about fuel starvation now.

In order to fit the tap to the tank I made an adapter plate. Drilled two 6mm holes, 44mm apart and countersinked the holes.



Then I drilled a 15mm hole a bit off-center (so the tap clears the valve cover) and tapped it with a 3/8" NPT thread.



When I was done with fitting the fuel tap I also sorted out the fuel lines and filters. Tried a bunch of different transparent fuel lines this summer and all have gone yellow and turned hard, even though they are made to withstand petrol. This time however I used a really high quality and very flexible silicone line which I hope will do the job better.

Time will tell...

when i installed a pingle along with their adapter plate on my 1150 the fit was too close. in the off position it rested against the valve cover. yours is a much better way to go.

Yeah. It's still a pretty snug fit but not like it would have been with the hole drilled in the center of the adapter.

Had to open up the hole in the tank a bit though in order to get the fueltap in far enough (the mesh-filter-thingy was in the way).

And an update on the forks: They seem to have cleared customs now and are resting at the FedEx terminal in Stockholm waiting to be shipped to my place. Hopefully they'll be here tomorrow like promised (estimated...).

Went and picked up the forks a couple of hours ago. Prayed to god that it would be the actual forks inside the box and not a slab of iron.

Err, screw the calm act. I was excited as f*ck to open the box and literally screamed like a little girl when I saw them.



They simply are 100% pure porn.

No point in staring at them down in the kitchen so out to the garage I went and started fitting them.

Must say, I'm pretty damn happy with the way it looks.



Some nice visual features on the legs as well instead of just a round tube.



And a close up of the new and super-sleek headlight mounts. Really love the way they look.



Now it's just a matter of buying those ISR calipers.

Haha, yeah, it's kind of a temporary measure untill I've sorted out the new mounts for the swingarm.

As for the tank: it's from a 1980's Z1000 Mk.II, and yes, it's another project. But we haven't started working on it yet.
