Didn't review all the threads but here is my opininated two cents. What bothers me about seeing a rattle can paint job is my belief that once the owner has become bored, moved on and the bike does not start it will most likely end up being chopped, bobbed, parted out or even worse scrapped. You probably have sealed its fate, congratulationsLast edited by srsupertrap; 03-29-2010, 09:42 PM.Steve

Wow, this is moving stuff. You really care about this bike. I want to reassure you that I will never intentionally hurt this bike (besides defiling it with spray cans). I will never sell it (although I could lose it playing cards). If it ever dies it will not be by my hand (unless I am riding it). If it dies I will then gently mount it's remains on a mohogany pedestal (maybe cherry) and place it in the foyer of my home, right next to my life size shrine of my late great dog Schmedly, who's picture is my avatar (he hated motorcycles and Germans, but he's dead, so I put a German helmet on him as a joke). My wife will cry (again) but it will be awesome!Didn't review all the threads but here is my opininated two cents. Anyway, you really touched my heart, man. Thank you.

this actually does not bother me that much... then again I did rattle can my truck
it came to me with this horrible flame job and lots of rust. I ground the rust off, rivetted some metal on, patched with bondo, and put some rattle primer on it. Its an 84 chevy c10 and I "matched" the two tone paint with two tone dark and light gray primer lol.Comment

Actually i don't care about 850L's but how about this for a cool project? Turn it into a stretched hillclimber and bring it to the Widowmaker Hill Climb in UT. Not exactly a new idea but the You Tube video would be awesome.

Not actualy an oxymoron. An oxymoron is something that is a TOTAL contradiction in terms, like Military Inteligence, Government Accountability, or Painless Dentistry.
As far as the bike, I'd have left the stock paint alone UNLESS there were bare spots starting to rust, then I'd have used enamel, rather than grille paint.
As far as buffing, the only realy shiny thing on my bike is usualy the seat.
But it's your bike, enjoy!Comment

Well, the bike started ugly and you made it completely ugly, so kudos for finishing the job. If you upgrade the suspension, put 4 into 1 header on it , make it run well and ride the hell out of it for the 40 000 miles, IT and YOU will became really cool.Comment

Sorry I had to vote Hate It. Flat black looks great with a contrasting trim, like a gloss black frame and exhaust, polished engine fins, etc. ALL flat black is way too much. The motor is something you don't want to paint flat black, all the lines and curves in a flat color look dirty.Comment
