    Did a little painting...

Shot these parts this weekend. Everything was media blasted, two coats of epoxy primer, and two coats of top coat. Shiny bits are covered with Por-15 Hardnose paint and ChassisCoat was used for the not so shinny stuff.

I'm f'ing glad this part of the project is done!

I've got a goodly pile of freshly plated parts that's going to be put to use bolting this stuff together.

I didn't have them cut because the on-wheel run out is less than .003" after they were matched to the wheel.

The parts look a little better in the photos than in real life but they do look good (and I'm pretty picky).

Thanks to everyone for the complements.

Looks killer Ed! Frames are such a b!tch to paint arent they? Its nearly impossible to NOT get overspray on something you've already coated with the current coat. Mine never look quite that good, but ive come pretty close with some rattle bombs. Patience and prepwork. One of these days I'll get up the nerve to actually try with real paint and guns.

BTW, that Chasiscoat looks nice. Bout the same finish you get out of the Duplicolour LowGloss black. Looks about as OEM as you can probably get.

One thing Ive wondered.. When I go to paint my ES's frame later this summer, I kinda want to keep the factory build date/VIN sticker on the frame. Have you kept these, or just removed them? Im wondering if I could have a friends wife who works for a place that does vinyl and such stickers make me a replica...

                Ed,

No wonder your arm almost fell off. that sure is a boat load of parts to have painted in a weekend and I like the fact you can still see the outline of the vin label after 4 coats of paint.

You never cease to amaze me!

I wonder if anyone can pick out the part you made?

                  Josh,
It's against the law to alter the VIN label so don't mess with it.

I masked this one using low tack masking tape, that I further detacked by rubbing on my jeans. You really need to be careful with the label because it's a foil sticker. A small chunk came loose on mine but I captured it and stuck it back down.

Regarding the overspray, you got that right. It's really hard to eliminate it totally. The Por-15 paint is pretty thick so that makes it doubly hard. There are a few spots that don't show in the photos that I touched up tonight.

Yeah, I noticed A small bit of mine peeled off when I masked it off when I repainted my motor in-frame. I was pretty upset, but learned a lesson. Will heed this advice in the future!! thanks for the tip as usual Ed

That looks sweet Ed! I'm brushing POR 15 Blackcote on mine and I thought it looked good, but what you've done is a much better end result

I've only done the easy stuff so far (swingarm, center stand etc.) but have got the frame mostly prep'd to get done next.

Gravity feed gun with pressure set very low will help with the overspray.
Although I didnt learn that till after I did mine, and Im not redoing it.

I removed the sticker, F it!
