Were my Guages swapped for ones that read lower mileage?

A friend of my first brought it up when he noticed that the right side (tach) was much brighter than the speedo (both bulbs changed) he said it doesnt look like they were a matching set... the prev. owner might have swapped it out to read lower mileage... does anyone have pictures of stock guages for 1978 gs750's... is this a really common thing? i mean the only wear i see really is that my engine head is leaking oil a bit which does seem weird for a bike that reads 11k miles

Its hard to say. The tach was not working on my GS1000G in Maine when I bought it. I sourced one from the internet, but it is faded compared to the speedo. Someone might think the speedo was changed for a newer one.

My tach is faded to almost white.
      Speedo is almost new looking.

      Strange isn't it.

I'd suspect someone swapped one of them out.

Here is a picture of the cluster on my 78 GS750. But I am not sure it is original. The shift indicator goes up to 6, and my bike is a 5 speed. But the fische all show it to be correct
