Can you post a close up pic of the funkagroovicness?
I'm trying to decide if I have an original paint job or a good home-done job.
    Thanks!

That's in natural light, and you can see the light blue and the medium blue stripes. I just snapped one tonight for a closeup. The colors are way bleached out from the flash, but you can see the pattern much more clearly - and the dark blue stripe which is hard to pick out under normal light. The stripes on the tail and the tank look to me like decals, I don't know if all years were like that.

If anyone wants one of these to paint let me know... I have one that's been in a low speed lowside so looks "ok" & could be made better but would be a lot better painted.

New brackets that came with it or I can supply some custom Aluminium brackets for the GS1000E (78)

Has anybody tried the Emgo Viper fairing? I'm trying to decide between the Emgo and the Maier. They both look good to me but how is the Emgo, performance wise?

I'm just waiting to see if anyone has any comparative Cd data?

I think it was an Emgo on one bike a friend had, very flimsy, very poor quality. Not sure it was Emgo, so maybe that's bogus information.

                    Maier and Shoei

Both of these came on GS1000's I bought.
The Shoei really helps in cold weather, protects the hands.Shield is a bit taller as well.Don't see many anymore however.Thought you all might want a look.

The Maier is a much higher quality piece than the Emgo in my opinion.
The Shoei's are nice, I've had one of those too but much bigger & don't work with Daytona bars on a GS1000.

I really like those Shoei fairings. Its exactly what Ive been looking for on my 650.

                          Maier (and Shoei) Fairings

My son and I just mounted a Maier small 1/4 fairing on his 1980 KZ550A...looks nice, took some work but nice results. Takes the pressure off the chest for easier cruising 45-60 mph. Mounting system is not as good as what comes with the Shoei FM2 and FM3; I have both. The FM3 is smaller amd lower, should work with Daytona bars. Here's the FM3 and my lower bars, they're either Superbike or Daytona...

                            Maier (and Shoei) Fairings

And if I may, here is the FM2 with the same bike but with bars using a 2" bar riser. A little more protection and more upright seating position. There is enough space under the windscreen to stash your gloves when park or hang a Garmin GPS.

I never have tried the Maier on my own bike, but always liked the way they look. My son got his for about $115.00. The Shoei's are available on eBay for similar price.

I started mounting the fairing tonite...problem is my front signals are short stalked..so I had to turn some spacers..make longer bolts with hole in the center for the wires etc etc...got those sorted out..and now am actually working on the mounts..not to fond of the mounting system...just seems kinda "cheesy" in my opinion..and being who i am and maybe a bit picky I guess..started fabricating some mounts tonite..with work and all hope to have it all ready for this week-end...I'll post up some pics when she"s all done...cool thing is its a nice gloss black and matches the bike so I dont have to paint it.
