Best way to restore black finish on mags?

I picked up an '83 1100G and want to renew the black on the mags. Can someone please tell me the best way to get the color back without painting them?
    Thanks in advance,
    Willie
Common sense has become so uncommon that I consider it a super power.

    Present Stable includes:
    '74 GT750 Resto-mod I've owned since '79
    '83 GS1100E (The best E I've ever enjoyed, Joe Nardy's former bike)
    '82 GS1100G Resto project

If the black in between the spokes and on the hub are chipped or faded i usually will tape the non painted surfaces off and trim the tape to fit nicely and then repaint them..takes a bit of time to do the masking process but they look showroom new when your done.

            Thanks!
In my opinion the best and and easiest with cool looking results is paint the entire rim with several light coats of a decent quality Matte Black. No tape work, which combined with polishing is what takes majority of the time.
Others here have also painted the entire wheel except for the outter lip. Looks good too.
Whatever is done I dont see how a tired, paint faded wheel will ever look good without some paint work.

I usually mask and trim..I have also heard that you can paint the entire thing and then use laquer thinner and a rag to clean the paint off areas you want clean.

I thought about that. Sure would have been the easy way.
But seems to me the spokes have little bitty horizontal ridges that would prolly require more thinner than desired to remove and perhaps ruin areas ya want the paint to remain.

Hint.. Tape, then rub the tape with a rag using a good bit of pressure making sure the tape is set paying particular attention to the edges. Then use a hard smooth round edge like a screw driver shaft to edge the tape in the larger areas. Make the job go much faster.

I may try it on the 850. Been thinking it might look better with all black wheels.
Sheesh, and I just had the rear of yesterday for a spline re-grease.
                    Winter times coming...
